Scientist Biochemistry/Immunology (m/f) in Epitope Mapping

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated scientist to contribute to our epitope mapping team that provides the commercial epitope mapping platform services to external clients.

The candidate will be participating in lab work, which consists of ELISA-based assays but will also be responsible for data analysis using MS Excel and R programming, and writing reports. The candidate will be also be involved in client interactions, and must be able to discuss projects with external clients on epitope mapping in general.

Experience and scientific background in protein-protein interaction/protein design and ELISA-based assays is desired. An important part of the work involves antibody – antigen binding studies using peptide arrays. It includes the design and data analysis of large complex structured peptide libraries. The position also requires knowledge of protein structure and skills in bioinformatics to analyze the binding activity of peptides to a given antibody and translate that into the location of the complex epitope on the native protein structure.

Skills & Experience

The candidate should have an MSc or PhD-degree in a relevant discipline (biochemistry, structural biology, immunology). Experience in data-analysis using R programming is a definite advantage. able to show evidence of productive, independent contributions in science. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the candidate should be able to manage and execute research projects independently. Candidate must be a team player with strong analytical skills and strong oral and written communication skills with pro-active behavior. The ability to present the company on meetings and conferences is also expected. An excellent knowledge of the English language is required.

As the service of epitope mapping is a commercial service that is offered to external clients, the candidate is supposed to show a business-driven and customer-oriented working attitude, with the ability to communicate and discuss results with external clients by phone or via e-mail.

Pepscan is a biotech company, using its proprietary high-throughput CLIPS protein mimicry technology for the mapping of (monoclonal) antibody epitopes and other protein interaction sites.
