This permanent DevOps System Administrator Windows vacancy is held at a group of (cloud) storage companies who present themselves as one famous Global Storage provider. Based in Amsterdam and London, they are growing rapidly both in terms of bringing in large numbers of new customers every month and providing new features to the platform. They self-host their multi-petabyte storage cloud, optimizing the platform for the best possible throughput and cost/GB. The customers trust them inherently with their data, therefore quality is key. It’s essential that they focus on constantly improving what they can offer from a quality of service standpoint.

This DevOps System Administrator Windows position is for their location at Amsterdam Schiphol. You will work from one of the offices at the Schiphol Airport Business Centre which is easily reachable by public transportation and by car.

This people’s person company is part of a billion euro global group. Together, the aim is to create the biggest and most advanced storage platform in the world. The parent company already owns many famous (cloud) storage brands and lead their division from the London based office. They are growing rapidly, bringing in large numbers of new customers every month and constantly improving platform and products. As one, they manage tens of petabytes of data across Europe and the US. Their top-flight team of IT Infrastructure Engineers are constantly working to improve the design and operation of owned platforms, and to automate deployments and management of the servers and network.

Excitingly, they are now looking out for a DevOps System Administrator to join the Amsterdam Operations team existing out of IT Infrastructure professionals, Software developers, QA Testers, NetOps and DevOps engineers supporting, maintaining and improving infrastructure in Europe and US. You will be responsible for continuing the adoption of cutting-edge automation and configuration management tools and ensuring our infrastructure meets the SLAs.

DevOps System Administrator Windows responsibilities;

-Day to day operations of servers (mostly Windows) and application support.

-Tier 3 support for systems supporting proprietary backup platforms, including Apache, IIS, MySQL, LDAP and Active Directory.

-Scripting for automation of regular maintenance and monitoring tasks.

-Helping the team to plan and prioritise projects and tasks, ensuring requests from internal customers.

-Working with other Systems Administrators and Systems Engineers to continue the process of automating deployments and configuration management.

-Working with the other Operations teams globally to ensure knowledge sharing and collaboration.

-The job will also require working in a datacentre environment in London as and when needed (This will be occasionally, at least not often).

DevOps System Administrator Windows requirements & experience;

-More than 2 years’ working experience in a data centre environment.

-Strong knowledge or some experience in scripting languages.

-Approximately 2+ years Windows SysAdmin experience.

-In-depth understanding of storage is a strong plus.

-Understanding of networks – switching, firewalls, static routing, and awareness of dynamic routing technologies would be advantageous.

-Experience working with automation/deployment tools including source.

-Virtualisation knowledge or experience (VMWare, HyperV).
