At our respected client / the employer in Amsterdam, the DevOps Application Team is about ensuring all the Web Applications are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team ensures that the company’s core applications are monitored and issues are responded to and resolved in line with departmental SLAs.

The DevOps engineer will have strong Linux and scripting skills and have a passion for monitoring and automation. The candidate will also strive to continually improve systems to reduce impact from technical issues. A key part of the role is to also provide hands-on support for the company’s core applications. The DevOps engineer will work in a team that provides support in the office between the hours of 09:00am and 5:00pm and outside of these hours, he/she participates in an on-call rota. Also expected is that the DevOps engineer works closely with the IT Development and IT Infrastructure teams and will be responsible for deploying and monitoring application code in the live environments.

DevOps Engineer activities;

-working in a small team to keep control of a hybrid Windows/Linux environment that is running on an Openstack Infrastructure.

-configuration management: script, test and deploy automation recipes using Puppet.

-support development and QA to satisfy their day to day needs.

-provide computer/network support for software and hardware problems.

-research and implement new tools for increased productivity, security, reliability and performance.

Essential skills and knowledge of the DevOps engineer;

-Definitely a self-starter with good organizational and analytical skills

-Solid ability to work in a team oriented environment.

-Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

-Linux configuration, management and administration.

-Windows  configuration management and administration.

-SQL Configuration management and administration.

-Virtualization experienced.

– English well written and spoken.

-Able to work in a multicultural environment in an Amsterdam office.

Extra’s but ‘not a must have’;

-Programming /Scripting for purposes of DevOps (Python/Ruby/Bash).

-Puppet.

-Docker.

-Openstack/KVM.

-Web servers (Apache Tomcat/JBoss).

-Continuous integration and source control (Bamboo/Bitbucket/Git).

-Networking.
