As an Application Manager, you excel at the intersection between business and applications. Your have a keen and natural understanding of software applications and are able to creatively map application functionality to business processes. You enjoy the hands on exploration of the limits of application functionality and maximizing the use made of available systems.

In conversations with the business users you keep asking and re-phrasing until you have a crystal clear understanding of the business processes. You are able to clearly articulate technical choices and considerations to a non-technical audience.

The Application Manager works in an international team to support strategic business applications. You are part of the Platforms Team, which is responsible for the configuration and extension of business applications such as ERP, CRM, eCommerce, Digital Rights Management, etc.
Job Description

Main Activities

The Application Manager is a hands on role: you configure systems and their functionality, create test plans and lead their execution, build reports and queries, support and train users, en create documentation and usage instructions.

Translate business requirements into efficient, scalable and upgrade-safe application configuration
Configure and tune business applications
Create, update and automate relevant business reports
Document and lead user acceptance testing
Conduct user training for new systems or system upgrades
Work with the internal helpdesk to enable 24×7 support of these applications
Work closely with external consulting partners to develop, deploy and maintain customizations
Work closely with application vendors to implement application upgrades and resolve application issues
Manage and optimize the use of software licenses

Skills and Expertise

Masters of Applied Science in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
At least 5 years IT work experience
At least 3 years experience in a similar role
Knowledge and understanding of databases and SQL is a must
Experience managing a CRM system is highly desirable
Experience managing an ERP system is highly desirable
Experience managing a Learning Management System (LMS) is an advantage
Positive, can-do attitude
Ability to work effectively without day-to-day guidance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent written and spoken English is essential for this role. English as a native language is an advantage.
