Job Description

As our Charging Solutions Engineer you know the technical details of charging equipment by heart and are able to advise and challenge on client’s needs. You are able to challenge our charging equipment suppliers on their developments and are able to match Allego’s long term goals with the products that they design and produce. You are the sparring partner for our Delivery & Realization Managers on the delivery of our charging solutions. From time to time, you should be able to explain to our colleagues in the field what to do in case things don’t work.
It is a role which combines charging hardware quality assessment and solution development for our hardware portfolio. The focus is on data connectivity, for example OCPP, and AC/DC charging systems. You will be working within the Charging Solutions and Site Design team within our company, together with the team you solve challenging puzzles.
Overall, you will be responsible for the analysis, implementation, and development of our hardware – and supplier portfolio – focusing on charging technology and data connectivity. You keep track of (key) trends in charger hardware, standardization technologies and data connection in the market. Besides that you assess quality of new suppliers, new hardware products and internal electrical components of the charging stations/accessories.
Other responsibilities include:
– Manage technical communication with hardware suppliers regarding existing and new products, features, and developments.
– Assess quality of new suppliers, new hardware products and internal electrical components of the charging stations/accessories.
– Validate new releases of firmware for charging systems with electric vehicles.
– Advice on technological and economic feasibility for different use / business cases.
– Act as an expert on data connection solutions for the chargers and the Allego backend, support in case of issues and provide advice for future developments and improvements.
– Provide technical consultancy and ‘on demand hardware analyses’ for product development.
– In-depth technical analysis of charging issues of our operational chargers in our network.
– Represent our team in relevant technical committees, research and/or organizations.
– Are you energized by the future of mobility and do you want to design and co-create the best charging locations? Then we are looking for you. This unique position is open to a product manager who has a passion for EV mobility trends and who has an eager eye for customer needs.
– As Product Manager at Allego you will join the team of Charging Solutions and Site design to elevate our EV-drivers’ charging experience in our pan-European network to the next level, with the goal to increase conversion and retention. Part of your work package will be enabling the optimal usage of our charging locations by creating a default template and to optimize the interface between our users and the chargers you will build this vision thanks the company knowledge of EV-drivers’ needs, regulations, future propositions and data.
– You will regularly interact with our sales regions, project delivery teams and our operations team. You identify market needs and translate them into actionable insights. You will also interact with technical teams and stakeholders related to our product portfolio and ensure timely and qualitative results.
– Furthermore, you coach the organization to adopt and adapt the vision of the best in class Charging site to the local needs and support the markets to overcome the challenges of local projects.
– Based on your tech savviness you might also be responsible for selecting Charging Solutions for our charging hardware portfolio or work on the UX and UI that occur in the customer journey of our EV-drivers.
– Experience with European projects and/or knowledge (of regulations) about Charging Hub Designs are strong plus.

As our ideal candidate:
– You hold a bachelor or masters degree, preferably in electrical engineering, power electronics or similar.
– You have at least 5 years of work experience in a similar role. Experience in the EV or telecommunication market is a real plus.
– You have a good understanding of electronic products life cycles, requirements analysis, design, development, manufacturing, testing to certifications, and compliance processes.
– You demonstrate strong organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize multiple demands.
– You are a true team player and like to work together and coordinate activities with colleagues and external parties to come together to the best solutions.
– You have strong communication skills and are fluent in English. Another European language is a plus.
– You are willing to travel internationally when needed (a few times per year).
– You are in possession of a valid driver license (category B).
– You top it off with a great sense of humor.
